What I like about Bitsboard Spelling Bee?
It has built in lists by grade levels from grade 1 to grade 12. Each grade has 20+ lists, and each list has about 10-15 words, making the task easy to manage. The lists for Grade 1 to 4 also have pictures.
It also has sight words, commonly misspelling words. You can also find list shared by other users. You can create your own list, and share it with friends. This is an app covers everyone’s vocabulary learning needs.
Many lists have pictures and have additional spelling activities besides the flashcards. This definitely adds fun diversity to the learning and practice. These activities are: word builder, where kids put the randomly ordered letters in the right order to build the word; Spelling bee, when kids spell the word after listening to it; Word Search; word Chunks; and Unscramble.
It has Spanish, German, French, in addition to English. So far, I only checked on the Spanish lists. All lists have pictures and additional activities.
You can turn on the recording function in Setting, so kids can record their own reading of the words. This is especially helpful for foreign language students.
There are many options for you to customize your experience. You can decide if you want to add the recording button on each card; you can also decide the order of words in each list – random, by alphabet order, or as entered. There are many option choices for each activity.
Bitsboard Spelling Bee is a helpful learning app enable kids learn and practice spelling on the go. Its content fits the need from preschool to high school. Strongly recommend to have it, especially now it is free. It works on iPhone, iPod and iPad.
