App Went Free: Books for Reading and Creating

I Like Stories

Are you looking for books for your kids? Today I have a wonderful book app for kids 6 and younger. It is an app holding 37 books titled “I like …”, such as I Like Animals, I Like Colors, or I Like Drawing. What makes this book app unique is that each single book is customizable. I will explain more in details. The app is free to download, with 6 books free. Today the developer set all books free via In-App Purchase. So you don’t just want to download the app, you want to unlock all books as soon as you download the app today to get all 37 books for free. Books for Reading and Creating - I Love Stories

When you open the app, you will see thumbnail images of 37 books. The first 6 are free. The rest are locked. If you tab on one of the locked books, the app will ask you if you want to download the single book or the whole package. Each single book is $0.99, and the whole package is $6. Today you can get the package for free. Once you download the book, you can start reading.

Each book is about one subject, such as dogs. Each book has about 15 to 20 pages. Each page has a real life picture and a one-line sentence. Some sentences are short, like “l like dogs”; some sentences are longer, like “It is fun to swim with dogs and splash around”. While the text is read, the words are individually highlighted. There is no interactive feature on the pictures.

I like all pictures are real life pictures. It is neat that you can edit all the pages. You can change the sentences to the way you and your child like to say. You can even change the text font, color, or make it bold, with shade.

You can overwrite the narration with your own voice using the recording function on each page.  You can re-write the text completely, and record the reading yourself. I found it fascinating that you can edit the voice file to adjust the word highlight timing yourself. This is to make sure each single word is highlighted at the time you want it to – to best sync with your reading. Of course, you can turn off the word highlighting too.

You can switch off the pictures in the book, and replace it with your own pictures. You can add text, stickers to the pictures too. One thing to be cautious about, I could not find un-do button. Once I took a picture off the page, I could not get it back. So it is best to duplicate a page before you do any editing, just in case you want the original page back.

You can add a new page to an existing book, you can also create a new book. I can’t wait to create a book with my son!

In addition, it is also a book creator app. There are many book creator apps. What is unique about this app is the ability to edit voice files and adjust word highlight timing. It could be a good tool for kids who are learning the language or are receiving speech training.
