Valentine’s Day is a good time to teach kids about friendship and love. Today’s app is a perfect app on this subject. Wubbzy Loves You is an interactive story app about friendship and helping each other. It is currently free, for limited time.
When Wubbzy and Daizy realize no one has received their lovey love friendship cards because Mr. Mailman is sick, they volunteer to deliver the cards to Wuzzleburg’s kookiest residents! Kids will follow Wubbzy and Daizy visiting their friends and spreading love and cheer to everyone.
There are 3 ways to use the app: Read to Me, Read & Play, and Just A Book.
Under Just A Book, kids will be able to read the story without any interactive features on the page. It is just like a plain picture book. Kids can read it by themselves, or have a parent read it to them. Under this option, there is no narration come with it. I highly recommend doing this first, as the other two options have too many interactive features that will interfere the reading.
Both Read to Me and Read & Play have interactive animations and sound effects on each page. For example, if kids touch the balloons, the balloons will float up; if kids touch the clock, the hands on the clock will starting moving; touching the door knob will open the door; … Most time, the sound effects are louder that the narrator’s voice, making it hard to follow the story. I found it much easier to use Just A Book when you actually want to read the story, and use the other two options for play.
There are two videos of friendship songs, which are fun to watch.
Kids will learn numbers and letters with the two learning games. One game asks kids to pop the correct number of balloons; the other requires kids to put mails into the right mailbox based on the letters on both.
On the app’s home screen, there is a button leading to other apps. But you have to enter your birth year to enter the area. The same protect is built for entering the parent’s section. You can find links to some free activity printables here.
Wubbzy Loves You is available for iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is also available on Google Play and Amazon App Store. It is usually $2.99. It is free for limited time at the time of this post.
