Cooking Fun for Kids with Recipes Kids Can Make

Cooking Fun For Kids App

Cooking Fun for Kids from Bean Sprout is a fun cooking app designed for kids age 8 and under. It has 30 fun activities encouraging kids love food and eat healthy. It is free. The app is made out of a book Bean Appetit: Hip and Healthy Ways to Happy Tummies. If you don’t have mobile devices to use the app, and are interested in finding fun activities teaching kids about healthy food, you might want to try the book. It is available as print book and Kindle book. Cooking Fun for Kids - 30 Food Related Activities

The first impression when I opened the app is: it is fun and kids are going to love it. It is clear Bean Sprout is trying to use the playful cooking experience to encourage kids to like and try healthy food. I simply love those animated vegi characters, funny, friendly, and always positive.

There are 30 activities, including videos showing how to make a healthy food, food related games and jokes. Some key features include:

Build-a-Bean:  Dress up characters with silly accessories and facial features, all from healthy food items, such as carrots, apples.

Spill the Beans: Quirky conversation starters with a food theme, such as “If rain could fall in any flavor, which flavor would you choose?”

Mmmmatch ‘em Up: Kids improve their food IQ by matching vegetables

MasterPEAs: As an artist draws a food scene with a pencil, kids try to guess what it is. How long will it take for them to figure it out?

Bean an Artist: Kids discover their inner artist by coloring fun Bean Sprouts characters.

Bean Bags: A silly scavenger hunt to make trips to the supermarket more fun!

Imaginibbles: Yummy, good-for-you reciPEAs and videos! All reciPEAs are easy enough for kids to make by themselves and tasty for them to enjoy.

According to the developer, the content of the app will be refreshed periodically with new healthy recipes for kids, videos and more.

Cooking Fun for Kids is available for iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is $0.99 on App Store. It also has a companion book. The Amazon link below takes you to the print book page, on which you can also find link to the Kindle book.
