GeoBee Challenge HD by National Geographic

GeoBee Challenge App from National Geographic

Are you kids doing GeoBee? My child’s school just finished their GeoBee challenge for this year. It is a fun way for kids to learn geography. GeoBee Challenge App is a great tool to help kids prepare for the challenge.

If your child has not done GeoBee, it is like the Spelling Bee, but it is all about geographic information. Each year thousands of students in grades 4 through 8 in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee. It is challenging and fun. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Although the challenge is designed for kids in grade 4 to 8, it is fun for everyone to try. Now this app just makes it easier for the whole family to play together.

There are three types of game play:

Multiple-choice: answers come from a library of more than 1300 National Geographic Bee questions.

Map challenge: you zoom, pinch and tap your way to find spots on an interactive map from a catalog of 1000+ locations.

For added challenges, bonus rounds include photographs that you have to locate what’s in the photo on the interactive map. Of course, the app will not tell you where the photo was taken or what is in the picture!

The faster you answer, the more points you get! You have to keep up the pace to move on to the next round.

iGameMom Comments:

This app offers a fun way to learn about geographic facts. It is a great tool to prepare for the GeoBee challenge if your child is planning to participate one. It is also a fun activity for the family to do together.

GeoBee Challenge HD by National Geographic works on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is usually $1.99 on App Store.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.

This sounds like something my 2 oldest boys might like.

    • My boy loved it. He can’t get enough. I only wish I got it before their GeoBee.

Our school doesn’t do anything like the GeoBee. They do geography stuff in the form of Mystery Skyping (way fun to watch!), but I may have to show this to my fellow teachers! This would be fun to do!

    • It is a fun way to practice and do some pre-test on how much they know. Plus it is still free. 🙂

Thanks, this looks great. It’s way too advanced for my pre-school GKs, but I’ll have fun with it although I’m absolutely certain I’m not near as smart as a 4th grader!
