App Went Free: Robots for iPAD

Robots for iPAD

Robots for iPAD is a very cool app about Robots. It is developed by IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers). It has pictures and videos of 126 robots from 19 countries, with tons of information about each one.  I suggest all kids take a look at it, even you are just remotely interested in robots – it will open your minds up, learn the potential of technology and its impact in our everyday life.  It is currently FREE, and I don’t know how long it will stay free.

At the opening, the app presents a grid of robot pictures. Tap on each one will bring up details of each robot: name, when it was created and in which country, its functions and capabilities. Young kids will have fun just playing around the pictures, making the robot turning around. The “Did you Know” section has some fun facts about each robot.Robots for iPAD App

You can also navigate through the app via the menu at the bottom of the screen:

Ratings: shows you Top Rated Robots, Most Wanted Robots, and Creepiest to Nicest robot. Currently the top 3 most wanted are Sphero, LEGO Mindstorm NXT, and Nanoquad. Download the app to find out what do they do…

News: provides up-to-date news about the robots.

Play: face-off between robots. Some examples are: which robot dog would you rather take for a walk, which robot would you rather hug, which robot would you like to be your friend. This would be a fun activity for the kids and the whole family.

Learn: this is the place to learn about robotics. It covers topics like What is a Robot, Types of Robots, Getting Started in Robotics as a career, Timeline and glossary of Robotics. I like it includes videos of robotics scientists talking about robots and their careers.  This could be a good source of inspiration for kids who likes science and technology.

Robots for iPAD is a great resource about robots. It works on iPAD. It was $4.99 on App Store, and is currently FREE.

If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store link provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The link works for all countries.
