Since kids spending more time on tablets, I have the concern that they are going the lose handwriting practice time, which I still think is necessary and important, even with all the tablets and computers. I started by searching for the right stylus for kids so kids can practice handwriting old fashion way on iPad. Now I found some really good handwriting practice tools that kids can practice penmanship on tablets. As handwriting is not just on tablets, and in fact most times people write on paper, so we also include some handwriting practice resources and tools that you can use off tablets.

Handwriting Practice Tools Available on Tablets

Handwriting without Tear is a very well designed handwriting learning system for kids. Children learn and practice correct formation habits for writing capitals, numbers, and lowercase letters.

iTrace has kids friendly interface and teaches kids write lower case and upper case letters, numbers, their names and simple words. You can even print out worksheets right from the app for offline use.

Letter School is a fun app for kids to learn handwriting. Kids learn writing through Intro, Tap, Trace, Write 4 stages, while playing games.

iWriteWords is another playful writing app for young children, making handwriting fun. Kids write by following and collecting balls, which is a fun game for them.

Cursive Writing is a good tool if your child is learning cursive. It not only includes all the letters, but also common words and sentences.
