Brain Booster Exercises is a fun brain training app that is not only good for kids, but also good for grown ups. It is free with options to add more levels via in-app purchase. There are a lot content come with the free download. We actually have not even bothered to add more levels.
There are 3 sets of games in the app: Stroop Test, Bigger or Smaller, and Odd One Out.
Stroop Test is a set of games that players pick the asked color.
In the first game, players are asked to pick the color that is the same as the color of the words shown on the screen. The tricky part is all words are color words, like white, black, pink; and the color of the words are never the same as the words themselves. For example, the word is Pink, but the color of the word is Black, so you need pick a black color.
The 2nd set of the Stroop Test is to pick the color based on the word. Again the word itself and the color of the word is never the same. The word Pink will show up in black color, and this time, you need pick Pink.
In the last set of the Stroop Test, players are getting mixed requests. Some times they need pick the color based on the word, sometime they pick based on the color of words. This could be very challenging.
Bigger or Smaller challenges players in quick math comparison.
In the first game, players only see addition problems. For example, you will be asked which is bigger, 13+2 or 14+2. What the players need be careful is sometimes it asks which is bigger, sometimes it asks which is smaller. Players have to pay attention what they are asked to pick.
The 2nd set includes both addition and subtraction problems; and the 3rd set includes all 4 operations.
Odd One Out is a visual test. Players are asked to pick out the picture that is different from the rest 8.
Some differences are easy to spot, some are very subtle and you have to pay close attention. There are 3 sets of games in this one too.
I like Brain Booster Exercises for its intuitive play. It does require basic math and reading (of the color words) to play the first two sets of the games. It is available for iPhone, iPod and iPad for Free.
