Learn World Geography is a free geography app from Brainscape. It is a flashcard app, but the algorithm is designed by learning cognitive scientists leveraging the latest cognitive science techniques, so you can master the content faster.
From the surface, it is just a flashcard. After using the app for a while, you will find that memorizing the geographic facts is not that hard, and in fact it is quite easy.
According to Brainscape, their objective of the app design is, “rather than creating frivolous games or distracting quizzes to try to make learning “fun,” Brainscape provides a scientifically optimized algorithm to repeat flashcards in just the right pattern for your brain’s maximum absorption, based on your confidence. Brainscape makes sure that your study time is used as efficiently as possible”.
The most obvious difference between Learn World Geography and other flashcard apps, is it asks the user to rate each answer, with the question “How well did you know this?” from the scale of 1 to 5, 1 being Not At All, 5 Perfectly. Those questions were rated 1 to 4 will be repeated based on the rating. Some questions show up right away, some questions show up later.
Geography facts included in the app are: Major World Currencies; Maps for Africa, Americans, Asian, Europe, Oceania; National Capitals for Africa, Americans, Asian, Europe, Oceania; and Flags of the World.
