Learn Baking with BakingFun

BakingFun

Do your kids like to help in the kitchen? Do they like baking?  BakingFun is a very interesting app they will love to play.  Although it is called BakingFun, the app starts the baking process from the very beginning – planting the wheat seeds.  With a series of mini-games, it shows what it takes to have a loaf of bread on the dinner table: planting the seeds, watering the plants, harvesting the crop, milling the flour, making the dough, baking the bread.

To start, kids tab on a bag of seeds and plant them in the soil.  When the cloud comes, they need move the cloud around to make sure all seeds get water.  They will see the seeds grow into wheat ready for harvest.

Next kids can drive the tractor and harvester through the crop to collect grains, and send them to the mill.BakingFun App for Kids

At the mill, kids will help to turn the windmill to grind the grains into flour, and then load the flour onto a truck to deliver the flour to a bakery.

At the bakery, kids first make dough by mixing flour with water, butter, and other ingredients. Then kids can choose which kind of the bread they want to bake, and put them into the oven. When the time is up, the bread is ready.

iGameMom Comments:

The whole app is very intuitive with no word instructions.  It is a free play game for toddlers and preschool kids to learn about where the bread comes from.  With the bright pictures and pleasant music, kids will have fun to play and learn.

What is really great is the app goes beyond baking, shows kids the whole life cycle of bread, starting from wheat seeds.  I hope this will help kids appreciate our food more.

BakingFun works on iPhone, iPod and iPAD. It is $0.99 on App Store.
