I had readers asking about Rainbow Sentences App. I contacted Mobile Education Tools, who developed the app, and received a copy of the app. After reviewing the app, I was really impressed by the design – no matter it is the picture, or the choices of the sentences, or the lesson style.
Rainbow Sentences’ target users are kids who have difficulties following traditional teaching methods, and those (kids or adults) who are learning English as a second language. It is designed to help kids improve their ability to construct grammar-correct sentences with color coded visual cues. During the learning process, the app offers different color codes for “who”, “what”, “where”, and “why” parts of sentences to help kids recognize and understand how combinations of these parts create basic sentence structure.
I think the app does a great job in filtering through the complicated English grammars and re-creating a simplified and practical sentence structure guide, so the users can put what they learned into real life conversation right away. The recording feature is a great add, so the kids can hear him/herself speaking the correctly structured sentences, as a reinforcement and as a fun reward.
Features from the App Store:
-168 images to create sentence from
-Intuitive drag and drop to create sentences
-Words are spoken as they are being dragged for non readers
-Words can be color coded for added visual support
-Word groups can be selected to simplify sentence construction
-6 levels of sentence complexity
-Pictograph lessons to help students learn proper sentence construction
-Record feature allows students to record sentences in their own voice
-Save and email recorded sentences
-Students earn puzzle pieces during play to encourage continued play
-Puzzles come to life once level is complete
iGameMom Comments:
Rainbow Sentences is a well designed English grammar learning app. If your child is doing ok in traditional school, you probably won’t benefit much from this app. If you feel like to try a different approach from the traditional school, Rainbow Sentences is a great alternative.
Rainbow Sentences is only available on iPAD. It is $7.99 at App Store.
In addition to Rainbow Sentences, Mobile Education Tools has a series of English learning apps, such as Conversation Builder and recently launched Tense Builder, all are well designed with similar structure as Rainbow Sentences. If you are looking for a series of English learning apps that teach in a non-traditional approach, this is a good place to visit.
If you would like to check it out or purchase it, please use the App Store button provided below. The cost is the same to you, but iGameMom gets a small percentage. Thanks for your support! Note: The button works for all countries.
Greeeeeaat! I’m going to forward this informatin along:)
Thanks for sharing the information at iGameMom!
This is great! I love it because my daughter has severe dyslexia – the difficulty she had from traditional teaching methods nearly crushed her spirit as a young child. Luckily I was a very young mother who was willing to try any method possible for her to learn to read and adapt – one of those thing was using the “new” computers (this was 1987) and their spell check program. THIS app would have been a life saver and may have saved me headaches and her lots of tears! I hope those who need it, even those who don’t want to admit their child needs it – will get it! P.S. – she’s 31 now and has a Master’s Degree from a Major University and is moving up the ladder of success. most people would never guess she didn’t read until she was 9-years-old! 🙂
Kudos to you! What a devoted mom! This whole rainbow series is designed by a dad who was trying to help his daughter to learn English. Is it amazing!
