Winky Think Logic Puzzles has a series of fun logical and critical thinking games for kids. It starts with fun shape and color matching, but gradually goes into complex puzzle games full of obstacles that require reasoning, observation and spatial cognition skills to solve. It is a fun game for the whole family. It is currently free for limited time.
The games are roughly grouped into 3 skill levels, with over 180 puzzles in total.
The first level is very basic, a preschool kids can play and enjoy. They train kids on basic concepts, like color, shape. Kids also need lead the puzzle piece through simple maze to complete the game. So this is also good for motor skills.
The second level build in the elements of sequencing and timing. Kids need coordinate multiple actions and plan the action sequence to achieve the goal. The maneuver of the puzzle pieces requires more precision. This may frustrate some preschool kids, but presents the right level challenge and fun for school age kids.
The third level puzzles are more complex with multistep actions. Most puzzles need coordinated actions from both hands. It is not a bad idea to have more than one kid to work together as a team, which is a great way for sibling bonding and for parents connecting with kids. To win the game, kids need think through the plan and execute the plan perfectly with the right sequence, timing and precision.
I love the progression design of the app. The added difficulties are gradual and smooth. All progressions are built upon the experiences kids have gained while playing earlier levels in the past. Kids can’t skip puzzles, they have to finish solving one puzzle to unlock the next.
Winky Think Logic Puzzles is available on iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is usually $2.99, and it is free for limited time today.
