Interactive Weather App for Kids

Interactive Weather App for Kids post image

Weather has been a fun part of early education for kids. I remember those weather boards in my son’s classroom. We have a magnet weather board at home for him to play with also. Today we introduce a real weather app specially designed for kids. It is a real weather app because it tells kids the weather condition of major cities around the world in real time. Because it is specially designed for kids, it is more kids friendly and fun for kids to play with.

Before you can use the app, you need turn on your device’s location notification for this app. To do that, you go to Setting, then Privacy, then Location. Once you turn on Location, you will see many app titles under it, and you can choose the apps that you allow to access your location data. Find this app Weather, and turn the location on.

Once you have location turned on for this app, kids will be able to see the local weather condition: temperature, sunny or cloudy or windy. They can also see the day of the week, time in two formats: digital or clock.

There is a big window from which kids see the weather condition outside: raining, thunder, sunny, cloudy, … They can open or close the window, depending on the weather condition.

There is a TV that if kids turn it on, they will see the weather forecast for the next 7 days. The forecast is just a picture showing the condition, with no details such as temperature.

There are two clocks: one digital, one regular. When kids touch them, they will hear the time reported to them. It helps kids to connect the visual with the wording.

There are some other fun interactive elements in the room. Kids can turn on the radio to listen to different channels. They can eat the food on the table, or bring the flowers to bloom more. They can also light up the fire in the fire place.

At the bottom right corner, there is the location icon. If kids touch the icon, they can see a list of cities around the world, and they can choose any of the cities to check out the weather there. All weather conditions are real weather in real time.

This is a fun weather app for kids. Kids not only can learn about weather, but also time and calendar.
